Local-first software
A local-first AI workspace on an infinite canvas
We got tired of renting our own software, so we ditched our hosted task tracker and docs tool. WidgetFlow keeps your notes, tasks, documents, and AI on your machine, in local files you control.
We use it every day. Not public yet.
The Problem
Your AI doesn't remember you. Its makers do.
ChatGPT and Claude store your conversations in someone else's cloud, in a black-box memory system you can't inspect or export. Switch providers and you lose everything. WidgetFlow keeps your data in a plain database on your own machine — yours to read, export, or move, no matter which AI model you point it at.

AI ASSISTANT
AI that uses the context you allow
Choose which workspace context and tools each Persona may use. Point it at Ollama for a local model path, or deliberately connect a supported remote provider or Agent.
What should I focus on today?
Atlas · AI
Based on your canvas — you have 3 open goals, 2 tasks in progress, and a journal entry from yesterday about focus. I'd suggest starting with your "Deep Work" goal block.

TASKS WIDGET
Your tasks live on the canvas, not in a hosted tracker
Not locked in a separate app. Not hidden behind tabs. Drag the Tasks widget next to your AI assistant, your notes, your documents. We replaced our own hosted tracker with exactly this — it's how the team tracks its own work today.

DOCUMENTS WIDGET
Conversations become documents, not disposable chat logs
Every AI conversation is saved as a tagged, searchable document — not a throwaway chat log. Ask about a project once, and that context is right there next time, next to your notes.

nowSPATIAL CANVAS
Arrange your world however you think
Zoom in to focus. Zoom out for the big picture. Drag widgets wherever they make sense to you. Every canvas looks different because every person is different. This is MySpace energy meets infinite canvas.
How it works
Three steps to your canvas
01
Get WidgetFlow
Public download is not available yet. Beta builds are planned for Apple silicon Macs and Ubuntu, with Windows coming soon.
02
Add widgets
Tasks, documents, AI chat, notes — drag and arrange them exactly as you like.
03
It's already yours
No invite links, no hosted account. Your canvas and its data live in a local database only you control.
Built with intention
Small team. One vision.
WidgetFlow is built by a small team of developers. No venture capital. No team of 50. Just a focused group who believes your data should live on your machine, not ours.
We run WidgetFlow ourselves every day — it's how we replaced our own hosted task tracker and docs tool. Every feature, every pixel, every decision — one vision, executed with obsession.
FAQ
Common questions about WidgetFlow
What is WidgetFlow?
WidgetFlow is a local-first desktop workspace built around an infinite canvas. Tasks, documents, notes, and AI chat run as movable widgets on your own computer, with no hosted account.
When can I download it?
It's not public yet — we use it internally every day, but it isn't ready to hand out. Use the release notification button on the download page and we'll let you know when it ships.
Which platforms will WidgetFlow run on?
Beta builds are planned for Apple silicon Macs on macOS 13 or above and 64-bit Ubuntu, with Windows coming soon. None of these is publicly available yet, and final supported versions will be published with the first release.
Does WidgetFlow work offline?
Yes for local workspace editing, which doesn't need a network. Remote AI providers, Agents, updates, and support do.
Where is my data stored?
On your computer, as Markdown and JSON files with SQLite indexes for search. Data leaves your computer only when you choose a remote model or Agent, expose local MCP access, send support material, or export it elsewhere.
What AI models does it support?
WidgetFlow supports Ollama plus bring-your-own-key connections for selected remote providers, and it can connect to remote Agents. AI is optional. Provider availability and behavior may change before release.
What will WidgetFlow cost?
No public price or paid plan exists today because WidgetFlow is not publicly distributed. We will publish pricing and license terms before accepting payment.
What happened to the hosted version?
We're moving away from the hosted, multi-tenant version of WidgetFlow in favor of a local-first desktop app. This site now exists to introduce WidgetFlow.
Is WidgetFlow related to widgetflow.io?
No. This WidgetFlow is the local-first desktop workspace at widgetflow.ai. It is not affiliated with widgetflow.io, a no-code mobile app builder, or with WidgetsFlow, a FlutterFlow component marketplace.
